Foundation Stone

monument1A tremendous honour today to share with the Provincial Grand Lodge of Edinburgh in the retrospective laying of the foundation stone at the National Burns Monument on Calton Hill. Quite a turnout to see the first ceremonial foundation laying by the Provincial Grand Lodge in over a hundred years, and a worthy subject in the National Monument to Brother Burns.

The working tools were supplied by The Lodge of Journeymen Masons, No. 8, who incidentally, as an operative lodge provided the Masons for the building of the first White House in DC. The proceedings were presided over in due and ancient form by the Right Worshipful Provincial Grand Master Mason, Bro Maurice E Wilson.
